Why Shoot Raw?

Is it necessary to shoot raw once you have nailed it in camera?

I compared 2 of my own files side by side,
and up until I viewed them side by side I thought I had nailed this one in camera.

My raw file (on the left) was given the batch processing only...The jpg on the right was what the camera produced.

For me Batch Processing is really simple...I open all the raw files that contain the same settings from that session as a single batch in my raw editing software, I adjust the lighting, color and quality on a single image, then select all and apply these setting to the batch and convert them into JPG.

I think the above example proves why it is worth the extra editing effort and disk space to shoot raw.
