Photoshopping Chickens

Recently while doing a family photoshoot the 2yr old was getting little bored and cranky, as 2yr olds are inclined to do when a strange lady is pointing a camera at him and trying to coax him to smile.

Solution...Send my 3yr old to go get a scoop full of chicken feed and put the family to work at the afternoon chores.

Since this was not planned as part of the photoshoot the area next to the chicken pen was ummmm lets just say "in it's working farm" condition.....But I snapped some photos anyway....

Now one of the problems with working with chickens is they do not tend to stay still and hence often you get what I refer to as "blurred chicken head" in the shot...So first thing I did was removed the 2 white chickens and half of black/white chicken from the shot...I then copied the ground from below the red chickens (because it was at the same scale as what I needed and I hate the look of just cloned areas side by side) and placed it in the gap left by the white chickens....merged the layers and then used the cloning stamp to blend the edges of the  orginal ground and the newly placed ground together....ta-da....you can't even tell where the chickens had been....I then also using the cloning stamp removed the wood chipper and other assorted odds and ends out of the barn.

Lastly I cropped it give me my final composition, did a few little touches here and there...Blurred the ladies and the barn to add a little more emphasis on Dad and the little ones...Gave it a lovely warm glow.

I LOVE the end result

Celebrating LOVE

February is the month of LOVE...

And to celebrate Rock the Shot is holding a photo contest.

As soon as I read about the contest I knew just which photo I wanted to submit.

SISTERLY LOVE

I snapped this photo during a family photoshoot at my farm...These 2 sisters are so cute together and you tell by the looks on their faces how much love they have for one another....It was truly a privileged to be able to capture it with my camera....Sisterly love is a very special bond that will last a life time no matter what.

Lambs in time for Easter.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting Calovine Farm to see some of the sweet new faces that have already arrived for the spring lambing season.

I am excited to see who else will turn up between now and the Easter Photo Booth.

Photoshop Elements 10 + Eyelove2

Playing with PS Elements 10 and Action Eyelove2 for the first time today.

I removed the fly-aways on her forehead, tweaked the levels, reduced the noise and warmed the image with PSE on this photo...and of course Eyelove2 to make her gorgeous green eyes just POP.

Totally love how gorgeous my Daughter eyes now look in her prom photo from 2010

For this little bundle of sweetness I tweaked the levels and applied Eyelove2.
I also used it on the little dribble of sugar on his cheek.

I know I have a long way to go and soooo much to learn but I think this is not to bad considering I have not used any PS programs in over a decade and only installed PSE10 this morning...I almost feel disloyal to my Macromedia Fireworks MX  lol

But the real wow was the Eyelove2 Action and it was FREE...yay

Both images were from my archives and taken with older cameras...I am looking forward to seeing what I can produce with my Cannon and PSE10 combined....

Now THAT'S a birdcage!!

How blessed am I??

A sweet friend stopped by yesterday, she and her husband had been cleaning out the garage and she found a not so little something she thought I might like to have to use as a prop for my photography.

OMGosh how right was she??.....VERY...I adore this cage...it stands 26 inches tall and is 20 inches wide...It will make a great background piece as well as look lovely in my living room between shoot hehe.

She also brought me another over size picture frame which I can't wait to put to use next week.

Soft Editing

While I patiently wait for my new Photoshop software to arrive (this week if I am lucky) I have been playing in Fireworks MX....Adjusting the output levels as well as the curve line to bring out that gorgeous milky skin my wee one was blessed with...I should mention I used the stamp tool to remove the cookie crumbs that were all over her face...My photography tip of the day...Grab a wash cloth and clean the toddlers face FIRST :)

Also getting to know the new lens has been fun...I love this close-up crop of my wee one and her cheeky grin...She is always such a willing model with the promise of some gummy bears at the end...Yup, that's right I REWARD her with candy.

Getting inspired

I am blessed to call this gorgeous piece of Florida home...A property that has a long family history...A property just too pretty not to share...A property that inspires me to create gorgeous country images.

Surounded by lots of country chic, my wee one helps out modeling in the mock-up for the
Easter Photo Booth
